Which shape of hay net to choose?
Bag, envelope or round bale: the choice depends on the way you serve hay.
The bag
- The classic format, to hang up: stable, paddock or trailer.
- Knotless design, with a drawstring supplied.
- 38, 45, 60 and 100 mm meshes; 0.80 x 0.80 m and 1.50 x 1.00 m.
- As a guide: about 5 kg of loose hay for 0.80 x 0.80 m, about 12 kg for 1.50 x 1.00 m. This varies depending on the hay and its compression.
The envelope
- A flat format, supplied with its 4 straps, easy to fill and to attach.
- 38, 45 and 60 mm meshes, and 45/60 mm double mesh.
- 1.00 x 0.90 m and 1.50 x 0.90 m.
The round bale
- For a whole bale, outdoors as well as in housing, including for several horses.
- 1.60 x 1.40 m in 45, 60 or 100 mm mesh.
- Measure the actual diameter of your bale before ordering. Other diameters on request.
Our advice
- One meal's hay at a time: the bag.
- A flat format, simple to attach: the envelope.
- A whole bale for several horses: the round bale.
- A size or mesh that does not exist: the custom-made.
In all cases, then choose the mesh: see Which mesh to choose?
A hay net does not replace the ration. Do not reduce the amount of hay you give without the advice of your vet or an equine nutritionist.
